Last week in Ibo while learning about Kwanzaa we talked a lot about our families and our communities. We also began a discussion of what it means to be thankful and what we find ourselves thankful for. Please enjoy this video that I have put together of their work.

The short week of 11/1
This week in Language Arts we are going to be reading Where the Wild Things Are. We will be taking an in depth look at this book. We are examining the difference between fact and fantasy and how different people express different emotions and how we can cope with the emotions/ feelings that we have.
At the end of the week ( Friday) we are hoping to show the film and do a media comparison of the two works. About half of the students said they have already seen this movie but it will still benefit them to look at it from a different view. I took the classes to the theater to see this movie and complete this lesson with them and it was super a super rewarding lesson!
Thanks for reading!

Book Orders
Just a friendly reminder that ALL of November book orders ( there are 4) are due on Friday. It is a really great opportunity to build your at home library with out spending a lot of money. There is ALWAYS a $1 book in every book order! I have also been talking to the children about saving money and setting goals. Some students have begun to bring in some spare change in hopes to reach their goal to get a book. I am happy to hold onto and keep track of their change as I think this is a valuable lesson in money saving.
